Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Kolkata police STF and the ARS of the detective department seized around 1.04 crore from a car in Park Street. Rajesh Kasera alias Rajesh Agarwal (49), a resident of Nalini Ranjan Avenue and New Alipore, was intercepted based on a tip and the car was raided around 4.40 pm on Monday.
"He was stopped for carrying over Rs 1 crore in cash. He failed to give a satisfactory answer or document when asked to explain the money's origin and purpose. The money was stashed in the car bearing a Bengal registration. Following his detention, a case was registered for theft," said an officer.
Earlier, it was reported that an amount of 50 lakhs have been recovered from Kasera. However, as the officials began counting, the amount shoot up to over 1 crore. Police are now investigating the source of the cash.
